The Cross Training Effect

The Cross Training Effect

Cross training is a highly effective technique used to improve specific aspects of physical performance in athletes at both amateur and professional levels. The type of cross training chosen for the particular athlete, caters to the goals need to be met for their sport. For instance, a basketball player cross trains with swimming laps to build stamina, so once on the court, he or she can last ninety plus minutes with ease. Do athletes that cross train perform better than those who do not? Yes. From The Active Times, […] “all athletes should be cross-training.”

What type of cross training is right for you?

There are two different forms of cross training;
1. Cardio based
2. Weight-training based

Whether your sport is soccer, football, baseball, basketball, volleyball, golf, tennis, ballet, etc, you must pin point the area of weakness that needs improvement. This might be a drill that needs improvement, or a center of gravity issue with your abdominals to improve a swing.

What do you do if you want to improve overall performance?

Whatever the area of improvement may be; increasing endurance or improving the body’s ROM (range of motion), American Barre Technique® is your ideal form of cross training. ABTbarre is ballet inspired aerobics™, a low impact yet challenging workout for both men and women alike. Football players have caught on to the cross training effect of ballet and other sports are beginning to catch on. According to Men’s Health, “Cross-training approaches are also becoming more and more popular in the military, NFL and NBA.” Small staccato actions are performed to work deep into muscles that help with stability, agility, and proper restorative muscle strengthening. Balletic-like movements are repeated in the technique to improve endurance, increase flexibility (ROM), assist in improving balance, and core strength. Watch your overall performance improve with American Barre Technique®. When your overall performance improves and your ranks have skyrocketed, thank your secret weapon, American Barre Technique®
