My secret to living a “fit life” is simple. It’s not rocket science. It’s a way of being.
For me, it took me nearly 3 decades to finally understand how to live life in a “fit” manner. I learned how to live a fit life when I discovered American Barre Technique. What is American Barre Technique you may ask? It’s ballet inspired aerobics, most famously known as barre. I first fell in love with the workout after my first class, and could not believe the physical results. My body has never responded so positively and quickly as it has from American Barre Technique. It’s like magic and it’s just too good not to share.
The first thing I noticed was my sculpted arms, specifically my shoulders (I’ve never been able to get this kind of muscle definition), my toned legs, slimmer waist, and my lifted and FIRM butt (my favorite ;)). The kids are heading back to school and that means I get to go back to the barre on a regular, non-hectic basis! The fall is my absolute favorite season because I get the proper time to focus on my health and it’s one of the season’s that I am able to accomplish my fitness goals without any interruptions or mishaps. Getting back into a routine with my kids significantly helps myself get into my fitness routine, and with a stable routine, I am able to stay focused and achieve my fitness goals.

The very first barre workout I took was the Ballet Body DVD. The workout was challenging, yet doable for me, and I couldn’t believe how fast my body responded to the exercises. I was never one to have a “toned” or “sculpted” look until I did the barre workout regularly. I became more interested in taking barre classes in my home town (and finally felt confident enough to venture out) so I visited my local gym and started taking barre classes there.
It didn’t take long for me to realize how obsessed I had become with barre. My barre teacher at the time approached me and asked if I had ever considered teaching a class or too, since I loved it so much. That thought hadn’t crossed my mind until that moment. Then I had my “aha” moment. I knew that teaching barre was my calling and that I should follow my heart doing what I truly love. I was so excited to start this journey in becoming a certified barre instructor, but didn’t know how to make it a reality. I met with my barre teacher to get some advice from her (she’s an incredible instructor.) She recommended me to get barre certified by American Barre Technique, that’s who she got certified by, and said I will be able to teach as soon as I complete their online barre teacher training course.
As soon as I got home from our meeting I enrolled with American Barre Technique right away. The online barre certification was perfect for me, I was able to complete it in my spare time and at my own pace. I got barre certified fairly quickly and got hired immediately at the gym. I invited my friends and family to start taking my classes and they all got hooked on barre!
