If you haven’t heard of barre fitness, you are missing out. As it continues to become the hottest fitness class, it’s time you become familiar with barre and consider adding it to your fitness routine.
Barre is “a ballet inspired, low impact, aerobic class that fuses fluid balletic movements with small staccato actions to trigger hard to work muscles. ABT tones and sculpts the outer physique into a lean dancer’s shape. This fitness class is perfect for women and men of all ages and strength levels and can be taken at your own pace with an increase in difficulty or at a modified level. Increase your flexibility, tone and tighten your physique, increase endurance, improve balance and find a deeper sense of inner strength.”-American Barre Technique
The Amazing Benefits of barre include:
1. It’s Low Impact
Almost all barre classes remain low impact by focusing on small isometric movements on and off the barre. These low-impact exercises are not only safe for your joints, but also are incredible for your body and avoiding injury.
2. You’ll Increase Your Flexibility
Barre classes, namely American Barre Technique, emphasizes the importance of stretching. Adequate time is spent stretches to help increase flexibility for splits, straddles, and backbends.
3. It’s Perfect for a Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced Fitness Goer
The beauty of barre is that it can be taken at your own pace. You can choose how low to work during leg work, and how much weight you want to use for arms. This is a fitness class you can invite your mom, grandmother, and daughter to!
4. You Will Get TONED
Say HELLO to your ABS! Barre focuses on core strength and you will see the benefits in your abs. Your core is engaged throughout the class, just stay consistent with your barre workouts.
5. You’ll Never Get Bored Of The Workout
Barre does not follow the same mundane exercise over and over again. Instead, it’s more like a dance routine where you move from exercise to exercise following the beat of the music, you’ll never get bored. If you happen to find your self obsessing over barre like many do, consider becoming a Certified Barre Instructor. This will help from burning a hole in your pocket from barre class expenses AND you’ll stay in the BEST shape of your life. Take it from me, I’ve gone from barre addict to Certified Barre Instructor and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Happy Dancing! Xox
Become a Barre Teacher | ABT Official Online Barre CertificationIt was always hard for me to thoroughly enjoy working out until I discovered Barre. The very first barre workout I took was the Ballet Body DVD. The workout was challenging, yet doable for me, and I couldn’t believe how fast my body responded to the exercises. I was never one to have a “toned” or “sculpted” look until I did the barre workout regularly. I became more interested in taking barre classes in my home town (and finally felt confident enough to venture out) so I visited my local gym and started taking barre classes there.
It didn’t take long for me to realize how obsessed I had become with barre. My barre teacher at the time approached me and asked if I had ever considered teaching a class or too, since I loved it so much. That thought hadn’t crossed my mind until that moment. Then I had my “aha” moment. I knew that teaching barre was my calling and that I should follow my heart doing what I truly love. I was so excited to start this journey in becoming a certified barre instructor, but didn’t know how to make it a reality. I met with my barre teacher to get some advice from her (she’s an incredible instructor.) She recommended me to get barre certified by American Barre Technique, that’s who she got certified by, and said I will be able to teach as soon as I complete their online barre teacher training course.
As soon as I got home from our meeting I enrolled with American Barre Technique right away. The online barre certification was perfect for me, I was able to complete it in my spare time and at my own pace. I got barre certified fairly quickly and got hired immediately at the gym. I invited my friends and family to start taking my classes and they all got hooked on barre! Fast forward to now, my barre classes are always packed and I’m still loving the workout and its body benefits. I followed my heart and now I get to do what I love every day. If you haven’t taken the leap of faith I suggest doing it. This is your life, you’ve only got one so live it the way you’ve dreamed.
